Conventional cotton cultivation accounts for 20% of global pesticide use, and textile dyeing contributes to 20% of global industrial water pollution. In Europe alone, 13,000 tonnes of synthetic microfibers are released into the ocean annually.
As a result, the fashion industry contributes significantly to coastal eutrophication, habitat destruction, acidification, and biodiversity loss across the ocean.
